This is a perfect fasting or vrat recipe that can be easily served with roti or chapati and also with hot steamed rice or jeera rice.

This is a yogurt-based curry or vegetable ideal for those who do not have special dietary needs without onions, garlic and even tomatoes. It can be easily prepared within minutes with boiled potatoes and served for lunch or dinner. This vegetable is prepared during the fasting season of Navratri or other festivals.


Potato based curries are always very much liked in my house, especially sambar, raita or simple sabzi, being the most favourite. however, dahi Potato recipe is my personal favorite and i usually enjoy it with steamed rice or jeera rice. my husband usually does not like curd based sabzi but he prefers mor kulumbu or kodekena sambar recipe more. He basically does not like the extra dry spices like garam masala or kasoori methi leaves. That's why I sometimes prepare it without the taste of spices. but in this recipe post i have added all the required spice powders which make it a complete recipe.


I would like to give some tips and advice for this curd waled Potato recipe. Firstly, I recommend whisking the curd before adding it to the masala. Otherwise the curd may curdle. Secondly, stir the curry continuously after adding the curd. Apart from this, cook curd based curry on low to medium flame. Finally add salt only after the curry boils, else the curd may curdle.

Easy Dahi Potato  Recipe | Curd Potatoes | curd

Material

  1. 1 tbsp ghee
  2. 1 bay leaf
  3. 1/2 tsp turmeric
  4. 1 tsp cumin
  5. 1 inch ginger (finely chopped)
  6. 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  7. 1 green chili (slit)
  8. 1 tsp kashmiri red chili powder
  9. 2 large potatoes (boiled and cubed)
  10. 1 cup water
  11. 1 cup curd (whisked)
  12. 1/2 tsp salt
  13. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  14. 1 tsp kasoori methi / dry fenugreek leaves (crushed)
  15. 2 tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped)


Instruction


  • firstly, heat ghee in a kadai and add 1 bay leaf and 1 tsp cumin and saute till it becomes fragrant.
  • Further add 1 inch ginger, 1 green chili and saute well.
  • Reduce the flame and add tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chilli powder, tsp coriander powder and sauté for 30 seconds.
  • Also add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of whisked curd. If you want a thicker gravy, add less water.
  • While keeping the flame low, stir the curd well.
  • Stir while keeping the flame low, else the curd may curdle.
  • Now add salt and also add 2 big boiled potatoes.
  • Mix well, cover and simmer for 5 minutes or until the potatoes absorb the flavor.
  • Now add tsp garam masala powder, 1 tsp kasoori methi and 2 tbsp coriander leaves. Mix well.
  • finally, enjoy curd Potato with hot steamed rice or roti.
